What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open protocol that enables AI assistants like Claude to securely connect to external data sources and tools. With MCP, AI assistants can convert URLs to Markdown directly within their conversation context.

This service will be available as an MCP server, allowing AI assistants to convert web pages to Markdown on demand.

Configure Claude Desktop

Add to your config file:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

Restart Claude Desktop

Close and reopen Claude Desktop to load the new configuration.

Available Tools

Once configured, Claude will have access to these tools for converting web content:

url_to_markdown

Converts any web page URL to clean, readable Markdown format

Input:

  • url (required) - The web page URL to convert

Output:

  • Clean Markdown content extracted from the page
  • Automatically removes ads, navigation, and clutter
  • Preserves article structure, headings, and formatting

Example usage: Simply ask Claude to "Convert https://example.com to markdown" and it will use this tool automatically to fetch and convert the content.
